- Upstairs the canvas works were displayed with space and serenity, in total contrast to downstairs where I’d painted every inch of the basement. When I was painting friends visited throughout the day and night, playing drums and guitars to accompany and perhaps subconsciously direct my hand and brush. The improvised nature of the whole show led to a chaotic explosion of black ink, incoherent at times yet fully rejoicing in the act. Ultimately the whole show was simply a reflection of the speech impediment I grew up with, Expressive Deviant Phonology.
