'Stadio Superficie No.1’ by Lucy

IMG_4847.JPG

This is the local stadium in Grottaglie, Southern Italy. A past surface I've painted murals on that have since faded away. During my last visit I wrapped sections in paper, to take a more permanent record to print with.

A video below shows the whole process printing in Puglia with Studio Cromie.

Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair by Lucy

Was a pleasure to be showing new work at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair with Atelier Ji.

We printed a new 5 layer screen print at the fair which will soon be available on my shop and through Atelier Ji.

‘Remains’ 42 x 42cm on Somerset 300 gsm, edition of 30.

For this print I went back to what I regularly see and look for…

Remains - the faded abstractions of colour and texture found on walls before I climb up a ladder armed with my brushes and paint. Within my murals I leave these sections to reveal the wall's past history, adding to it’s story.

Forgotten Project by Lucy

Behind this wall hides the old Roma football training grounds 'Campo Testaccio'. Now abandoned the grounds resemble a forest, the stadium lights remain off and no one enters. It had been promised to be restored as a communal stadium but work was halted prematurely and has since been forgotten.

Forgotten Project aim to draw attention back to vital community spaces in central Rome that have been neglected, over shadowed by the tourist attractions.

At Campo Testaccio together we painted the 40m length of the exterior wall. Thank you to everyone involved in the project and to all the locals who stopped to show and share their support. You can read more behind the scenes on the Blocal blog.

And if you're in Rome go see all their mural projects, it makes for an alternative way to see this incredible city without selfie sticks ruining your view.

To help support this project further all artists involved have released prints available on the F.P's online shop

New Prints by Lucy

Been experimenting in the print studio...over the next couple weeks I'll release small runs of a few favourites, here's the first 3 available now, inspired by my recent trip to New Zealand for the Paradox exhibition at Tauranga Art Gallery. The titles also pay homage to the musicians Fis & Rob Thorne's collaborative LP "Clear Stones" which accompanied the short film Matthew Watkins made documenting my time in Tauranga.

'EDP Series I - Group II (Revisited)' by Lucy

10 years ago I installed the site-specific work 'Expressive Deviant Phonology’ at the Soho gallery Lazarides.  This was my first solo show and was based around my childhood speech impediment (E.D.P).
The work emerged as an experimental 'conversation' where during the course of one night I painted every available surface in response to the improvised music played by passing friends until the entire room was immersed in brush marks and sound.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the gallery I have revisited this installation to create a new series of prints. Using the remaining pieces of painted wallpaper I have spontaneously collaged and screen-printed them together to create these new unique works
